This is usually available from the router manufacturer's support website. While you have a normal connection, log into the router admin pages, and take a screen shot of the Status page, or at least write down the WAN IP, Gateway, and Primary and Secondary DNS information. Save this in a handy place next to the router.
When wifi drops, does hardwired device still have internet connection? My thought is crowded wifi environment, gateway keeps changing channels resulting in a drop to wireless devices. If hardwired device(s) also drop suggests signal issue to gateway. Do you have Uverse IPTV service? If yes, are the receivers losing service as well? Get a WiFi analyzer app and see if there’s any WiFi interference. If so, move your router in a different place or set a fixed channel for your WiFi from your router admin interface.
So I recently purchase a Netgear Nighthawk R7000 router for my home and when I first got it up and running a was very happy with it. As I began to use the features it offered though, it began to act weird. The biggest issue was the internet connection drops.
Contacted NetGear support who reprogrammed R7000 router remotely. However, 24 hrs later router issues returned. Contacted NG support again. After an hr trying to fix, they offered to replace my router w/a refurb, which I refused. I replaced the R7000 w/Google ‘pod’routers instead. Since then Internet/streaming speeds are thru the roof! Having the same issue with the internet just dying once a day with the latest FW where I have to reset the router to fix it. Tried reverting back to the R7900P-V1.1.4.6_1.1.85.chk and will see if it continues to have any issues. Next time you're bogged down, just say, "Alexa, ask Netgear to reboot my router." By contrast, Belkin's F9K1000 series – including the Belkin F9K1118 – lets you set up a restart schedule.
I Live in New York & I work from home so the internet is my bread and butter. I can connect for maybe 1 hour to 1 1/2 the i will just drop off of wifi which is not cool since all my devices are in the same room as the router. I even swapped out the router and hopes that would help and it didn't.
